CannibalAudit support

CannibalAudit support covers sitemap setup, scan coverage, review availability, and common troubleshooting steps.

Getting started

Open the extension, choose “Open sitemap audit,” enter the full sitemap URL. Free audits cover up to 100 unique URLs, including child sitemaps. Grant access to that site when Chrome asks. Keep the audit tab open until the scan finishes. Choose “1. Scan pages,” then use “Review pairs” under Step 2 to send the disclosed matching-page information to the review service, or download the local findings immediately.

The sitemap cannot be read

Use a public XML sitemap, such as https://example.com/sitemap.xml, rather than a visual sitemap page. If it redirects, copy its final URL from your browser. Sitemap entries on another origin are excluded. A www hostname is a different origin from the bare domain. Password protection, bot challenges and unusually large responses can prevent scanning.

My sitemap has more than 100 URLs

The free tool stops before crawling pages or requesting a review. Contact Alameda Marketing for a larger audit. We can assess the full site and help fix the issues.

Some pages are missing

The tool attempts all eligible same-origin HTML URLs in a qualifying sitemap and reports any exclusions. Noindex pages, pages canonicalized to another URL, non-HTML files and pages without useful HTML content are excluded. JavaScript-only content may not be visible. Scan coverage lists each selected URL and its outcome.

The review is unavailable or only partially complete

Usage limits, temporary outages or incomplete model responses can interrupt an assessment. Local findings and completed reviewed findings remain available to export. The error explains what failed. Select “Review remaining pairs” to continue; completed pairs are saved and are not sent again. An access error may mean your installed extension ID needs to be connected by support.

Why are template pages listed separately?

Placeholder blog titles, demo contact details and Latin template copy appear under Content cleanup. They are not treated as keyword conflicts. Site branding, broad isolated words and linked article listings are excluded from topic matching.

What should I do with a conflict?

Compare the actual page purposes and their Search Console queries. A service page and a helpful guide often serve different intent. Similar city pages may target distinct locations. Do not delete or redirect pages based solely on this report.

From your assessment, select “Get help from Alameda Marketing,” enter your email and message, then select “Send message.” You can edit or remove the optional sitemap URL before sending. Your assessment stays open. You can also contact Alameda Marketing and mention “CannibalAudit.” Include the error message and extension version. Share URLs only if you are comfortable doing so; never send API keys.
